Stick Insects

Acorns' class pets have had babies!

After coming back from the summer, Acorns Class had a lovely surprise in which their stick insects have had babies.

As part of taking care of the class pets, we needed to give them more brambles to eat. The insects also needed a clean out, while we did this the children enjoyed holding them.

By having the stick insects, we are aiding the children's growth and education. We are developing emotional and social skills such as empathy and responsibility, as well as boosting general learning skills including observation and curiosity.

Fun fact: The scientific name for stick insects is Phasmatodea however they are more commonly known as stick insects or stick bugs.
